This is EPISODE #8   Written By:  Juan Carlos Coto and Directed By: Thomas J. Wright

In the only episode written and filmed specifically for Christmas, Jarod “Marley” infiltrates the Baltimore medical examiner's office in order to investigate the death of “Christmas” George, a homeless man who played “Santa” for the children at St. Catherine’s Children Home every year.

Jarod discovers that Medical Examiner Dr. Lisabeth Drake accidentally struck Christmas George with her car, on the way home from a Christmas party where she’d had too much to drink. Not wanting to risk her career over a DUI, especially for a homeless man, Drake injected George with a drug that made it appear that he was dead, took him back to the coroner’s office, then killed him there. Jarod gives Drake a taste of her own paralyzing medicine in the form of a tainted fruitcake before turning her over to the authorities.

So that the children won’t be disappointed, Jarod takes Christmas George’s place, playing Santa by bringing them gifts and reading The Night Before Christmas to them on Christmas Eve.

Also during this episode, Jarod’s diligence pays off when he discovers the identity of a young “Jane Doe,” whose body was found in the snow. The girl’s family is grateful to Jarod for giving them closure regarding what happened to her, saving them from spending the rest of their lives wondering about her.

Sydney goes on his annual hiatus to Mount Pleasant, in order to spend time with his twin brother, Jacob. This year, he discovers that Jarod has sent Jacob a Christmas present, in the form of a snow globe of the Empire State Building that Sydney gave to Jarod, years before, in 1970. Miss Parker expects to spend Christmas Eve with her father, but he callously cancels at the last moment, without even wishing her a “Merry Christmas.” Harking back to one of their youthful encounters, it is Jarod who comes through for Miss Parker on Christmas Eve, sending a white rabbit to make up for the pet that she was never allowed to have as a child.
