Jarod Bradley becomes a prison guard at the Oakfield Penitentiary in Maryland to save the life of Carl Will, who has spent the last five years on death row and whose appeals have run out. Arrested and imprisoned for auto theft, Will was weeks away from the parole that would end his five year sentence when he was set up for the stabbing death of another inmate, Anthony Lewis. Eventually, Carl Will was convicted of the murder of Anthony Lewis and sentenced to die in the gas chamber. Jarod uncovers a scheme being carried out by a corrupt prison guard, Morris Clancy, to permanently silence convicts with ties to a particular Mafia family. He manages to get Clancy into the gas chamber, where Jarod makes him believe that he is dropping real cyanide pellets into the acid. Thinking he is going to be gassed, Clancy admits to having murdered Anthony Lewis, and several other inmates before him. Jarod has the loudspeaker on, and the Warden, the inmates and the protesters outside the prison walls hear Clancy’s confession. Based on a note found in a toilet pipe at Jarod’s last lair, Miss Parker believes she knows where Jarod will be next. The director at The Centre thinks that Miss Parker and Sydney might be overlooking things because they are too emotionally involved with Jarod and directs Broots to be a part of Miss Parker’s team in the field. Together the three of them stake out the Top Hat Cafe, while staying at the Park Place Motel. Miss Parker ultimate figures out that the real clue to where Jarod can be found is in the room next to the one in which they are staying, but not before a stomach ulcer causes her to collapse. Jarod discovers Monopoly and Slinky.
